Privacy and local storage
The service works without an account or upload. It uses Google Analytics for page measurement and includes the Google AdSense service tag; draw results stay in this browser session.
What stays in your browser session
The browser may keep tool settings, up to 20 draw-result lists and a separate buffer of ten recent public animal identifiers in sessionStorage. These values support restoration and repeat avoidance only; closing the tab ends the session under normal browser behaviour.
Clear history removes the stored draw lists and recent identifiers; the current settings remain until you reset them or close the tab. If sessionStorage is unavailable or blocked, generation continues in memory and the session cannot be restored.
Hosting requests
Contabo hosts the service in Europe. Standard request information can include IP address, requested URL, date and time, browser details and response status. Access logs rotate daily and the infrastructure retains up to 14 rotations for operation, abuse prevention and security.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics is enabled for ordinary page measurement with measurement ID G-VMRCYRWN8F. Google may receive page, referrer, device, browser and approximate-location signals under its terms. Draw choices, copied names and local history are not intentionally sent as custom Analytics events.
Google AdSense
The Google AdSense service tag uses publisher ID ca-pub-7026452424919680. Google and its advertising partners may process device, browser, approximate-location, consent and advertising signals to deliver, limit, measure and protect ads according to the choices available in your region.
Consent, cookies and similar storage
Google Privacy & Messaging may present regional privacy choices when configured for the visitor’s location. Analytics and advertising services can use cookies or similar browser storage subject to those choices and browser controls. The generator’s own history uses sessionStorage, not an account.
You can revisit an available Google privacy message, change browser cookie permissions or clear site data. Blocking third-party storage may limit measurement or advertising without preventing the core generator from working.
Links and third-party boundaries
Seed links encode public selection settings; snapshot links encode public dataset and result identifiers. Anyone who receives a link can read those URL values, so avoid adding sensitive information to a seed even though the tool does not ask for it.
Opening a GBIF taxonomic link leaves this service and subjects the visit to GBIF’s own privacy terms. The generator does not embed GBIF scripts or trackers.
Retention and your choices
Local session data normally ends when the tab is closed and can be removed sooner with Clear history or by clearing site data. Google and the hosting provider apply their own retention periods to information they process.
You can use the generator with browser storage restricted, decline available consent choices, or leave the site. Public seed and snapshot links remain readable to anyone who receives them until the link is discarded.
